At Portage Leadership Academy, students are supported in a safe, positive environment where a growth mindset is encouraged every day. From hands-on learning to joyful traditions, every experience is designed to help students build confidence, connection, and character.
Field Trips & Learning Excursions
At Portage Leadership Academy, learning extends beyond the classroom. Throughout the year, students participate in field trips and special events designed to connect academics to real-world experiences.
These opportunities may include:
- Community-based excursions highlighting local history and culture
- Leadership and service projects that allow students to apply their skills
- School-wide celebrations such as Field Day that promote teamwork, wellness, and fun
Every experience is educational, engaging, and carefully supervised, helping students grow academically, socially, and as leaders while creating lasting memories.
Student Activities & School Traditions
Each day begins with a Morning Message, where the school community gathers to start the day with purpose and focus. During this time, students and staff review weekly goals, celebrate achievements, and reinforce positive behavior.
At the start of each week, a school-wide assembly introduces a theme centered on leadership, character, or personal growth. These gatherings help students set intentions, stay motivated, and feel connected — ensuring every child feels supported, inspired, and ready to succeed.
Positive School Culture Program
At Portage Leadership Academy, learning and leadership go hand in hand — and hard work is celebrated. Our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program encourages students to build responsibility, focus, and positive habits throughout the week.
Each Friday, students who meet academic and behavior goals earn the opportunity to participate in Fun Friday. This special time allows students to relax, explore interests, and enjoy teacher-led activities of their choice — from creative projects and games to hands-on challenges and team-building experiences. It’s a joyful way to celebrate achievement, build community, and end the week on a high note.
